A pair of magnificent Italian mahogany and giltwood carved console tables, Tuscan or Neapolitan, circa 1830, Each with a semi-circular marble top, the frieze with ormolu mounted stars and wreaths with bows, above a finely carved winged lion monopodium terminating in hairy lion feet. Note: Almost identical winged lions can be found on a Neapolitan table and on the feet of a bed in the Royal Palace of Caserta, Naples. The same expression on the lion's faces can be found by Jean Baptiste Youf in Palazzo Pitti, Florence.
